Electronic mail, most commonly referred to as email or e-mail since ca. 1993, is a method of exchanging digital messages from an author to one or more recipients. Modern email operates across the Internet or other computer networks. Some early email systems required that the author and the recipient both be online at the same time, in common with instant messaging. Today's email systems are based on a store-and-forward model. Email servers accept, forward, deliver, and store messages. Neither the users nor their computers are required to be online simultaneously; they need connect only briefly, typically to a mail server, for as long as it takes to send or receive messages.

/ee'mayl/ (also written `e-mail' and `E-mail') 1. n. Electronic mail automatically passed through computer networks and/or via modems over common-carrier lines. Contrast snail-mail, paper-net, voice-net. See network address. 2. vt. To send electronic mail.

Oddly enough, the word `emailed' is actually listed in the OED; it means "embossed (with a raised pattern) or perh. arranged in a net or open work". A use from 1480 is given. The word is probably derived from French `émaillé' (enameled) and related to Old French `emmailleüre' (network). A French correspondent tells us that in modern French, `email' is a hard enamel obtained by heating special paints in a furnace; an `emailleur' (no final e) is a craftsman who makes email (he generally paints some objects (like, say, jewelry) and cooks them in a furnace).

There are numerous spelling variants of this word. In Internet traffic up to 1995, `email' predominates, `e-mail' runs a not-too-distant second, and `E-mail' and `Email' are a distant third and fourth.

Electronic MAIL

More: English to English translation of Email
Most electronic mail packages provide a method for mailing to other users' electronic mail addresses that are not on the local machine.
An e-mail address has two parts, separated by @ .The portion before the @ sign is the username, or mailbox name, of a particular user. The portion after the @ is the location adress. The suffix, in this case .gov, denotes what type of organization.
Example: president@whitehouse.gov (By clicking, you can actually send the President some email.)

Emër identifikimi Domejn i e-mail serverit
bujar66 @ yahoo.com
bujar1966 @ gmail.com
oaza_fresh @ hotmail.com
bujar.s @ mt.net.mk
bujar.s @ ismailqemali.com.mk

Serverë të ndryshëm për postë elektronike imponojnë rregulla të ndryshme për formim të emrit identifikues. Disa lejojnë që të shfrytëzohen shenja të veçanta, si për shembull "." ose "-", ndërsa disa jo. Të gjithë kanë numër të kufizuar të simboleve, por numri dallon në çdo server.
Është me rëndësi të ceket se preferohet që të shfrytëzohen shkronja të vogla për emrin identifikues.
