He made his name at Udinese Calcio, whom he joined from hometown club Odense BK in November 1993, and was a key figure as they finished third in Serie A in 1997/98. He moved to Milan AC in 1998 along with Alberto Zaccheroni and Oliver Bierhoff and his all-action style made him a regular in a successful first season which ended with Milan winning the scudetto. He can play either at right-back or on the right side of midfield, and is a fine marker but also effective coming forward. Another young Dane who has been laboured with comparisons with the Laudrup brothers, Jørgensen is showing the best form of his career with Serie A side Udinese Calcio. One particularly impressive sequence in the 1999/2000 season saw him score in five successive Serie A matches. He initially impressed for the Under-21 side, making 31 appearances and scoring nine goals. He finally graduated to the senior side just before the 1998 World Cup, and hit the headlines with a first-minute goal against Brazil. An attacking midfielder in every respect, he combines industry with the ability to beat defenders, and he packs a powerful shot. Nicknamed “The Computer” by his former manager Alberto Zaccheroni, Jørgenson is a player with a superlative footballing brain who can slot into any number of tactical frameworks. Having moved to Italy from AGF Aarhus, Jørgensen has been a regular at the Friuli ever since. His magic consists of creating chances for his team's forwards.

A combative and energetic midfielder, Allan Nielsen has been an inspiring influence in the Danish squad ever since he scored in his debut game against Armenia in 1995. Nielsen began his career in Esbjerg before he moved to FC Bayern München in 1989 to join their youth squad. However, life in Munich did not agree with Nielsen and in 1991 he decided to move back to Odense where he became an instant success with Odense BK. This prompted Brøndby IF to acquire his services in 1993 and the following year he won the Superliga championship title with the club. Nielsen then signed for Tottenham Hotspur FC in 1996, but although he did not become an instant hit at White Hart Lane and was not always a regular in the first-team. He has recently been playing on loan in the English First Division for Wolverhampton Wanderers FC. He was selected in all eight of his country's qualifying matches for the 1998 FIFA World Cup finals.

Secured his place as Jon Dahl Tomasson’s first-choice partner in attack, as well as a move to the Bundesliga, with some excellent Euro 2000 qualifying matches. He had previously given a glimpse of his talent at the 1998 World Cup finals, when he scored within seconds after coming on as a substitute against Nigeria. Tall and good in the air, he also possesses fine technical abilities. He was among the best scorers in the 99-00 Bundesliga Season.
Feyenoord & Denmark

Birthdate: August 29, 1976
Birthplace: Roskilde, Denmark

International: 21 caps, 8 goals (as of August 2, 2000)
World Cups: 0
Previous Clubs: Koge BK, FC Copenhaguen, SC Heerenveen, Newcastle United

His first international goal came in the away win against Wales in June 99. His strikes included the winner in Denmark’s shock 3-2 success over Italy in Naples and he scored three goals in Denmark’s 8-0 aggregate mauling of Israel in the play-offs. He has excellent close control and dribbling skills, and can play on either wing. For the national side he is most effective when he tucks in behind central striker Ebbe Sand, although he has recently moved back to play in midfield. After an unhappy year with Newcastle FC in England where he arrived in a £2.5 million deal from SC Heerenveen, Tomasson has revived his fortunes with Feyenoord. He collected a Dutch championship medal with the Rotterdam club in 1999 and made an impression in the 1999/2000 UEFA Champions League, not least with his two goals against SS Lazio in Rome which secured an unlikely win for his team.

Background
Once the seat of Viking raiders and later a major north European power, Denmark has evolved into a modern, prosperous nation that is participating in the general political and economic integration of Europe. It joined NATO in 1949 and the EEC (now the EU) in 1973. However, the country has opted out of certain elements of the European Union's Maastricht Treaty, including the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), European defense cooperation, and issues concerning certain justice and home affairs.

    Birthdate: November 18, 1963
    Birthplace: Gladsaxe, Denmark
    Height: 193 cms
    Weight: 87 kgs
    Position: Goalkeeper
Games & Goals with National Team: 122 caps, 1 goal (as of June 12, 2000)
    International Debut: May 10, 1988 vs. Hungary (D 2:2)
The Danish born goalkeeper's own personal style has introduced a new element to the game of soccer. His technique is well talked about in the industry and he is among the greatest players of all time. The Great Dane's massive presence provided a huge physical and psychological barrier for United over the past years. Outstanding reflexes for such a big man - though he can be prone to astonishing public histrionics. Schmeichel started his career as a striker at Gladsaxe and proved he has still has an eye for goal, scoring with a header from a corner in the UEFA Cup v Rotor Volvograd on September 26, 1995. His goal saved Manchester United's unbeaten European record at Old Trafford. Completed his dream of winning everything with Manchester United. He moved to Portugal and show that he is still one of the leading goalkeepers in the world, finishing FC Porto's hegemony. Scored his first international goal in June 2000 in a penalty kick vs Belgium. Barthez once declared: "Schmeichel is the best GK of the 20th Century."
